Customer Update 5 Feb 2021

Dear Customer,

As you know, from 6pm tonight (Friday), the Premier has announced some changes for the general population to transition from this week’s hard lockdown.

Following a number of enquiries from families today, I am writing to confirm that these changes DO NOT apply to our Supported Independent Living (SIL) customers who remain in lockdown until 12 midnight Saturday 13 February 2021. This is because our SIL homes are classified as disability care facilities.

SIL customers cannot visit with others outside their home, travel to community venues or family/friends’ homes, attend work or be visited by others. When exercising in the community, customers cannot meet up with others outside of their household.

I understand it is important that our customers are as connected as possible with friends and family during this difficult time with phone calls or online video catch ups. Please ask any Ability Centre staff member to assist you if needed or you can talk to your Coordinator to organise this.

I also wanted to let you know that the WA Government’s SafeWA QR code is now displayed at each Shared Living home for your use. This is in addition to our wellness checks and visitor sign in that will continue.

I realise this is frustrating but it is very important we continue to abide by the WA Government’s directives in regard to COVID-19. Thank you for your co-operation.

Yours sincerely
