Today, Ability Centre opened three refund point locations as part of the WA Government’s Containers for Change recycling scheme.

The refund points located in Bibra Lake, Beckenham and Midvale will provide drive-through and bag drop options for the general public.

Importantly, as part of its Supported Employment program, Ability Centre will employ up to 30 people living with disability across the sites at full operation.

Ability Centre Chief Executive Officer Jacquie Thomson said that the decision to be a part of the Containers for Change program was an easy one, we want people with disability to be active and valued members of their community.

“This program gives Ability Centre the opportunity to provide long-term career opportunities and skills development for people living with disability. We are really excited to be part of Containers for Change,” Ms Thomson said.

“Another key for us, is that anyone can donate their container refunds to Ability Centre which will be used to provide more job and training opportunities for people living with disability across Perth. It’s a wonderful model for long term sustainability – environmentally and socially.”

Ability Centre’s Containers for Change Refund Points in Beckenham, Bibra Lake and Midvale will be open from today.
