Murdoch Health and Knowledge Precinct

I am very pleased to announce that we have just signed a long term lease with Hesperia so we can establish a new services hub in the Murdoch Precinct - the first stage of DevelopmentWA's Murdoch Health and Knowledge Precinct (MHKP) from early 2023.

Our new Ability Centre South Hub will cover more than 1,000 square metres, and will include an office, a therapy centre, space for Community Services and Employment Services as well as administrative offices. Establishing the new hub at Murdoch means we will not continue with our Canning Vale site in the long term.

Stage 1 MHKP is a $250 million five-building development by Hesperia. MHKP is directly adjacent to Fiona Stanley Hospital and St John of God Murdoch hospital, and within walking distance of Murdoch University, South Metropolitan TAFE and the Murdoch train and bus interchange.

Importantly, MHKP is in the centre of a major southern growth corridor identified by the National Disability Insurance Agency, where demand for disability support services is expected to boom in the coming decade. This presents a real opportunity to grow our services and to develop a new Ability Centre hub that will allow us to better service the needs of our customers in southern metropolitan Perth and more broadly.

In addition to the obvious benefits of a larger operational footprint, there are a number of important advantages to being located within this prime health precinct including close proximity to health and other community services, excellent public access by road and public transport.

When complete, MHKP will include the State's first Medihotel, aged care facilities, short-stay and residential apartments, medical suites, extensive parking facilities and commercial and community services including dining and retail outlets. I believe this hub of services will be attractive to both potential customers and employees.

This is a very exciting announcement for our organisation and I will keep you updated as the development progresses.
