As a recognised leading service provider in the Western Australian disability sector, Ability WA has launched its new Service and Clinical Governance Framework to solidify its commitment to high-quality service delivery, safety and sound governance.
Ability WA’s Customer Reference Group developed the Framework principles to guide all stakeholders on their roles and responsibilities to deliver safe and quality services. The Framework also provides a continuous improvement model to guide decision-makers in optimising services to meet customer needs and expectations.
‘As a registered NDIS service provider with many different services, Ability WA has practice standards and safeguards to support the delivery of safe and quality services. It has always been our priority to exceed those standards. But more importantly, to ensure we are always improving our services to deliver what our customers need and want’, says Chief Quality and Governance Officer Renay Eade.
‘Our new Framework outlines what we expect from all of our stakeholders – always to exceed practice standards, and to provide the best services to our customers so they can realise their abilities and aspirations’.
The Ability WA Board’s Service and Clinical Governance Committee will oversee the implementation of the new Framework across Ability WA’s business units.
Ability WA has a long commitment to sound corporate, finance and clinical governance. In October 2021, Chief Executive Officer Jacquie Thomson modified the structure of Ability WA’s Executive team to include a new Chief Quality and Governance Officer position.
At the time, Jacquie said, ‘Quality and Safeguarding is our licence to operate. It’s at the heart of every decision and action at Ability WA. I took the opportunity to restructure the Executive team and enshrine the importance of quality and safeguarding at the executive level with the creation of the Chief Quality and Clinical Governance role’. In parallel, the Ability WA Board established a committee of Directors, the Services and Clinical Governance Committee, to focus on this critical area.
