Each year, ‘Little Telethon Stars’ are selected by Telethon to act as ambassadors, representing the children of Western Australia.
Ability WA is proud to support a special Little Telethon Star: Ability WA customer Harrison.
A typical six-year-old, Harrison loves his bike, board games and cooking up a storm in the kitchen. Diagnosed with spastic diplegia cerebral palsy at the age of two, Harrison also navigates vision impairment, speech, learning, and development difficulties.
Long recognised as a leader in early childhood disability services, Ability WA provides personalised support to children with complex disabilities. As a customer of Ability WA, Harrison receives a range of services including occupational therapy, physiotherapy and speech pathology; he also receives customised assistive technology support.
Recognising that family members play a vital role, Harrison’s parents work closely with Ability WA’s Therapy Services teams while his siblings participate in Ability WA’s family wellness program.
Ability WA Therapy Services Operations Manager Sally says, ‘Harrison’s family utilise our service so beautifully, accessing support and working in partnership with the team to add value to Harrison’s life’.
‘The reason Harrison has done so well is because of the therapists,’ says father Sean. ‘It’s been amazing.'
