Ability WA sets safety standards with a 100% score
Ability WA achieves a perfect score in our latest independent audit, receiving 100% across all assessed areas.
This independently verified result reflects the strength of our systems, but more importantly, it speaks to the values and culture that guide every part of our organisation.
From governance and safeguarding, to customer care and clinical support, this outcome represents a whole-of-organisation effort to put safety, dignity and quality at the centre of everything we do.
“Safety and independence go hand in hand,” says CEO Jacquie Thomson. “We’ve created a culture that prioritises both, with a strong focus on dignity and respect. Real leadership in this sector means being accountable, fully compliant with regulations, and constantly looking for ways to improve.”
Building Ability WA’s culture of safety and quality
This result reflects years of focused investment in quality, governance, and safeguarding. Ability WA’s dedicated Quality and Governance team, led at the executive level, plays a key role in embedding safe, ethical, and consistent practices across all areas of the organisation.
But high standards don’t start and end with one team. This achievement is the result of collaboration across Ability WA, from the very first interaction with our Customer Experience team, who prioritise privacy, consent and choice, through to our clinical and frontline staff, who apply best-practice and safety principles in every action and interaction. Behind the scenes, our Learning and Development team ensures every staff member has the knowledge and confidence to meet—and exceed—sector standards.
“100% compliance is more than a number,” Thomson adds. “It’s about every therapist, support worker and leader choosing to do the right thing every day—for the people we support, and the families who trust us.”
What it means to our customers and their families
For Marissa, a 37-year-old Ability WA customer living with spastic quadriplegia cerebral palsy, this commitment to safety and quality has changed her life. With the right support in place, she now lives independently with confidence.
“Knowing my girl is safe and happy means everything,” says Marissa’s mum, Christine.
Marissa’s journey is one of hundreds at Ability WA that shows how high standards in disability care aren’t just about compliance—they’re about empowering people to live their lives with freedom, safety, and choice.
Setting the standard, and then raising It
We at Ability WA are proud of this milestone, but see it as part of a broader commitment to lead with transparency, collaboration, and accountability.
“True sector leadership means lifting the bar—not resting on it,” says Thomson. “This result gives us momentum to continue advocating for best practice, greater transparency, and better outcomes for people with disability.”
The result confirms that Ability WA is a registered provider of clinical excellence, which empowers us to support our customers to realise their abilities.
