We were delighted to welcome Nicole from Telethon to Ability WA for a closer look at how Telethon‑funded services are supporting children and families through early childhood intervention. 

During the visit, Nicole met Ali, Archer and Frida, along with their families, who access a range of Telethon‑supported programs at Ability WA - including AssisTkids, our specialised equipment library, and the In Home Baby Intervention Service (IBIS). 

IBIS provides early, in‑home support for babies up to two years of age who are at risk of developmental delay. By working alongside families in their own environment, our therapists help build confidence, strengthen early skills, and support children during the most critical stages of development. 

AssisTkids gives families access to a wide range of specialised equipment designed to support mobility, positioning, communication and daily activities. This hands‑on access allows children to trial equipment and find what best supports their growth and independence. 

We’re also pleased to share that both IBIS and the Early Mealtime Service (EMS) have been funded for 2026, ensuring families can continue to access these vital early intervention supports.  

Telethon’s ongoing partnership plays an important role in helping Western Australian children build skills, confidence and independence early in life. We are incredibly grateful for their continued support and commitment to families across our community.
