Recently Therapy Services held our annual Best Practice Event - a day of shared learning and reflection that drew on expertise from across Ability WA and the broader sector.
Sessions covered pressure injury prevention, assistive technology, telehealth, pain research and contemporary support models, with a clear thread of evidence‑based practice and collaboration running throughout.
A highlight was Professor Jane Valentine's presentation on early childhood intervention, which challenged the team to close the gap between research and everyday practices. Her presentation also reinforced the importance of timely, developmentally informed decision‑making and using high‑quality assessment to guide meaningful, family‑centred support, ensuring children receive the right support, at the right time, in the right way.
These sessions give our therapists space to step back, connect with colleagues, and translate emerging research into practical impact - reinforcing our commitment to quality and continuous improvement for every customer we support.
Planning is already underway for next year, including a presentation from one of our newest team members, fresh from a conference in Hobart.
