Our partnerships with quality housing providers means we can support you to find housing that meets your needs with 24-hour onsite support. You may choose to live in a home with other housemates who live with disability, or you can choose to live on your own in a villa or apartment located near other people with whom you share your support team.
To be eligible for SDA, you must have
- Extreme functional impairment - you need lots of support from someone with many of your daily tasks such as moving around at home, your personal care, meal preparation, or looking after yourself. This is in addition to any assistive technology or home modifications; and/or
- Very high support needs - you need a lot of one-on-one support, for a significant part of the day from paid support workers.
If you are not eligible for SDA, Ability WA has many other housing options you may be able to access with our Community Housing providers.

If you’d like to continue living on your own or with family but just need some assistance with day-to-day living tasks, our Access Program can help. A Support Worker can come to your home and provide assistance with personal care, shopping, paying bills, cooking, cleaning, going to appointments, running errands and accessing your community. We usually recommend having a team of at least two regular Support Workers, as that way when one staff has time off, the other team member can still assist you. Having this support might mean you can continue living independently or with family for as long as you like, in your own community. We can even provide a vehicle to access your community if you choose. Support is provided for a minimum 4-hour period.
From finding your new home to exploring NDIS short-term accommodation options to receiving in-home support, we can support you to realise your living ambitions. Contact us today by filling out the contact form below or by calling us on 1300 106 106.
