This year, we celebrate 75 years of people, purpose and progress.
For 75 years, we've supported people with disability as expectations changed, barriers were challenged and new possibilities emerged. Guided by partnership, respect and a belief in every person's potential, our mission has remained the same: supporting people of all abilities to thrive in their communities, on their own terms.
Today, we honour the individuals, families, staff, volunteers and supporters who have shaped our story while looking ahead to the opportunities and possibilities of the next 75 years.

What began as a small group of determined parents advocating for better support for their children has become an organisation supporting thousands of Western Australians every year.
For generations, we've worked alongside people with disability and their families through changing social attitudes, evolving support systems and significant sector reform.
Our impact is not measured in years alone.
It is measured in confidence gained, goals achieved, relationships built, independence realised and lives transformed.

How We Help

Why Shine Together?
The story of Ability WA has always been a story of people.
Customers. Families. Employees. Volunteers. Partners. Donors. Advocates.
Individually, each has helped create moments of possibility, achievement and belonging. Together, those moments have shaped something much bigger: a community connected by shared purpose and shared hope.
That's why we've called this celebration Shine Together 75.
Because our greatest achievements have never belonged to one person alone. They've always been built together.
A Legacy Built Together
1948
A small group of parents begin advocating for better opportunities and support for children with disability.

1951
The organisation is formally established, laying the foundations for what would become Ability WA.
Through the decades
Services grow and evolve alongside the changing needs, expectations and aspirations of people with disability and their families.

2015
Ability Centre is launched, reflecting a broader and more inclusive service offering.

2021
The organisation becomes Ability WA, recognising its statewide presence and impact.

Today
More than 2,300 customers and their families are supported by over 1,200 employees across Western Australia.
