What is Supported Independent Living (SIL)?
Supported Independent Living (SIL) is a specialised NDIS-funded service for people with high support needs. This means you need a significant amount of help throughout the day, 7 days a week, including overnight support. With Supported Independent Living, you receive daily assistance and supervision that helps you to live as independently as possible – either alone or in shared accommodation.

What is the difference between SIL and SDA?
Supported Independent Living (SIL) is paid support to assist you with your daily tasks to help you develop the skills to live as independently as possible. These are the supports provided to people with disability in their home and can be in a shared or individual living arrangement.
SDA refers to the actual housing as well as the funding in your NDIS Plan. Our SDA homes are designed to be more accessible so you can live more independently while receiving the living supports you need.
What is covered by NDIS funding?
NDIS funding through Supported Independent Living (SIL) typically covers having a support person assist with essential daily tasks. This can include personal care activities like showering, dressing, cooking, and eating.
What is not covered?
SIL funding does not cover rent or daily living expenses like groceries.
