Ability Centre joins Containers for Change

This morning we had a very exciting event at Goodwill Engineering in Malaga. We were delighted to be the chosen site for the Premier Hon Mark McGowan MLA to announce WA’s new Containers for Change recycling scheme.

The Premier was accompanied by Hon Stephen Dawson MLC, Minister for Environment and Disability Services as well as representatives from government departments and a large media contingent.

Ability Centre has been successful in joining the scheme as both a Refund Point operator at three sites and a manufacturer of metal infrastructure that will be used to collect the recycled containers. I look forward to giving you more details of our involvement very soon.

Containers for Change is a new container deposit scheme for Western Australia. From 2 June 2020, people will receive a 10 cent refund for each eligible container returned for recycling at an approved Refund Point. There will be at least 172 Refund Points across the State.

I would like to pass on my thanks to everyone at Enterprise Services who worked hard to ensure today’s event ran smoothly and was a great success. Watch out for some of our starring supported employees on tonight’s news bulletins.

Kind regards
