Unintentional underpayment of employees

We apologise to our group of employees who have been unintentionally underpaid over the last 19 months. Ability Centre is committed to paying the amounts owed to past and present employees in full and with interest. We will also pay the additional superannuation contributions for the period. Current employees will be paid by Thursday 25 June 2020 and former employees once we have confirmed bank details from them.

We understand how important it is to ensure our hard-working employees are paid correctly in full and on time and take full responsibility for this mistake.

As soon as the error was discovered, we sought independent advice and engaged an independent consultant to thoroughly review our calculations. We are also in the process of checking our other Enterprise Agreements to ensure a similar problem has not occurred.

We self-reported the error to the Fair Work Ombudsman on 22 June 2020 and are willing to cooperate with them in relation to any next steps to ensure that an error such as this does not happen again.

The back payment to this group of employees does not impact on Ability Centre’s capacity or capability to provide services and support to our valued customers.
