Celebrating 70 years serving the WA community
2021 is a year of celebration for everyone at Ability Centre – it’s our 70th birthday. Founded on the passion and determination of a group of parents in 1951, we are proud to have continuously provided support and care for thousands of people living with disability and their families over seven decades.
Originally the Spastic Welfare Association of Western Australia serving children living with cerebral palsy, our organisation has grown and evolved to support over 2000 people with a wide range of support needs across all ages. Our founding families had a vision to ensure their children had a secure future with opportunities for them to live meaningful lives. We continue to share this vision by offering contemporary services provided by our highly qualified and caring team.
We have a number of events planned throughout the year and we hope to connect with many past and present customers, families and employees. Opportunities to connect will be promoted via our social media channels.
There is a wealth of history behind our organisation and if you have been part of our journey, we would love to hear from you.
If you have a story, photos or memorabilia to share, please contact our Communications Team – communications@abilitywa.com.au.
