Ability WA and InteliCare Partner to Empower Independence Through Employment and Assistive Technology.
The International Day of People with Disability (IDPwD) celebrates the achievements and contributions people with disabilities make to greater society. IDPwD also raises awareness, understanding and acceptance of people with disability.
At Ability WA, we strive to empower people who are living with disability to realise their abilities and potential and to guide them in making their dreams a reality.
For over 70 years, we have provided services for people living with cerebral palsy, autism, and other physical and intellectual disabilities. Our Employment Services team supports job seekers with disabilities by helping them to obtain employment and sustain a fulfilling career.
To mark IDPwD we are celebrating their achievements and contributions Ability WA customers are continuing to make to through employment with InteliCare.
InteliCare is an assistive technology company that has created a predictive analytics hardware and software system for the aged care and health industries. Using camera-free sensors and trend data, InteliCare empowers aged and disabled people to live independently, with dignity.
Ability WA's Employment Services assisted InteliCare with the employment of Jy and James.
Working in InteliCare’s assembly team, Jy and James build a core component of InteliCare’s smart home technology, the InteliHub. They both started with a trial period, but InteliCare cut the trials short and offered employment when it quickly became obvious they were performing very well.
Additionally, both have participated in discovery projects, where they diagnose issues and produced solutions.
Jason Waller, InteliCare CEO and Managing Director, said: "It was a rewarding experience partnering with Ability WA to significantly increase our in-house capability, while providing career pathways for people with disabilities. James and Jy are important members of the InteliCare team and it is great to see them grow professionally and personally. Their employment with InteliCare filled a real gap for the company. The reality is, their diagnosis is not a disadvantage, it’s a core strength in their roles because we needed staff with a strong work ethic on repetitive tasks and high attention to detail. I’d encourage all employers to explore this recruiting avenue."
Ability WA and InteliCare are proud to support the International Day of People with Disability. Through employment solutions and innovative technology, they will continue to challenge the perception of disability while creating solutions that encourage independence.
